I have been trying to work on my landscaping skill but always find that my landscapes look like a background in a cartoon. Too many years watching bugs bunny I guess, if anyone can give me some pointers I am all open to ideas...

I'd start with posting new pieces. Participate in Illustration Friday as often as you can for your theme. www.illustrationfriday.com Maybe get back to the basics, and do sketches and studies.
This piece: I noticed that when you paint from observation, there is a world of difference in your art. When you start to paint from memory, it becomes more like the landscape shown here. Your recent portraits are amazing. I think we should get out this week and do some plein air painting. . . what do you say? Lets try to get out before it gets cold. It will be just like the old times!
